The Photographic Story of the Carnival and Its Events
The magazine of this edition arrives at newsstands and the Museum’s bookshop
The magazine that tells the story of the Viareggio Carnival 2025 is now available at newsstands across the city and at the Museum’s bookshop in the Cittadella, Viareggio in Maschera. This publication – the official magazine of Fondazione Carnevale – provides a photographic narrative of the papier-mâché artists’ allegorical creations, as well as all the key events and protagonists of this edition.
Designed in a large format to highlight the images, the magazine captures the emotions and enchantment of the 2025 Carnival across 136 pages. From the creative process inside the Cittadella’s hangars – showcased through a special black-and-white photo reportage – to the explosion of colour at the first Corso Mascherato, the magazine brings the celebration to life. Each float in the first and second category is also presented with a QR code, granting access to audio descriptions as part of the “Carnival Accessible to All” project, a collaboration between the Alfredo Catarsini 1899 Foundation and the Carnival Foundation. The magazine also features extensive photo reports on the four exhibitions hosted in Viareggio’s historic buildings, as well as L’inCanto dei Rioni, guiding readers through the Fuori Corso experience. There is also a special section on music, featuring both the centenary Carnival song and the 2025 anthem by Cristina D’Avena, Tutto il Carnevale che c’è.
Additionally, the magazine includes fascinating historical documents on the Carnival, such as a 1925 photograph revealing a unique mechanism on Antonio D’Arliano’s winning float from a century ago. Tributes are paid to Claudio Morganti, the “Prince of Laughter”, and Silvano Avanzini, commemorating the 100th anniversary of his birth. The cover features a watercolour painting by Uberto Bonetti, preserved in the Historical Archive of the Carnival Museum. The photographic reportages are by Christian Sinibaldi, Lorenzo Montanelli, Paolo Mazzei and his team, Andrea Vierucci, Caterina Salvi Westbrooke, and the Gruppo Fotografico Versiliese, with graphic direction by Aldo Raveggi.
The magazine will also be available for purchase online via the official Carnival website.
